Why We're Building This
Most task apps make you click through menus, type into tiny fields, and navigate nested screens just to add a single item. Voice assistants can set reminders, but they can't manage real boards with categories, priorities, and shared access. There's a gap between what people need and what exists.
Neon Task Grid is built to close that gap. The idea is simple: speak to your task board like you would to a colleague. "Add milk to my grocery list." "What's on my work board?" "Mark buy coffee as done." The AI doesn't just transcribe — it understands which board you mean, fuzzy-matches task names when you're approximate, checks for duplicates, and confirms every action with voice feedback.
The interface is intentionally bold. A synthwave aesthetic isn't just a style choice — it's a commitment to building tools that are a pleasure to use, not just functional. Neon glows on priority dots, glassmorphic panels, animated waveforms during voice input — every detail is designed to make productivity feel less like work.

How Voice AI Works
Three steps from speech to synced task — powered by OpenAI's gpt-4o Realtime API.
Speak
Tap the microphone button and talk naturally. "Add pick up dry cleaning to my errands board." Or toggle hands-free mode — the AI auto-listens after each response, and 10 seconds of silence gracefully ends the session. No wake words, no menus.
Understand
The AI parses your intent in real-time — identifying the action (create, complete, delete, list), the task content, and which board it belongs to. It uses 3-level fuzzy matching to find tasks even when you're approximate, and checks for duplicates before creating anything new.
Execute
Your command runs instantly. The AI confirms with voice feedback, your boards update in real-time across all connected devices via WebSocket, and the activity timeline logs every operation with a timestamp — a full audit trail of everything the AI touches.

Categories & Groups
Organize boards by category and group. Each board has its own name, icon, accent color, and description. The sidebar groups them visually by hierarchy.
Real-Time Collaboration
Share boards with specific users via access control. WebSocket-powered live sync means changes appear instantly across all connected devices.
Priority System
Three priority levels — red (urgent), yellow (normal), green (low) — each with neon glow effects. Priority dots pulse with matching colors for instant visual scanning.
Export & Import
Export your boards as JSON for backup or migration. Import from file to restore or share configurations. IndexedDB caching keeps things fast offline.
Light & Dark Themes
Toggle between the signature dark synthwave theme and a clean light mode. Your preference persists across sessions via localStorage.
AWS Cognito Auth
Full authentication with email/password, forgot-password flow, and verification codes. Your data is encrypted and only accessible to you and invited collaborators.

How is my data stored? ▼
All task and board data is stored in DynamoDB with user-scoped access. Data is encrypted at rest. Your account is secured through AWS Cognito with email verification and password reset flows. IndexedDB provides local caching for fast offline access.
Who can see my boards? ▼
Only you and users you explicitly grant access to. Board sharing is opt-in per board — you control who can view and edit through the access control panel. Boards are private by default.
Does voice data get stored? ▼
Voice audio is processed in real-time by OpenAI's Realtime API and is not stored on our servers. Transcripts are shown locally in your browser session only. The only data that persists is the resulting task operations (creates, completions, deletions) logged in the activity timeline.
